IIRC the combination produced about 350W which was more than adequate. I too had some problems with orientation and it went in hard twice - the second was its last.....
I've never established whether it was pilot error for sure, but I've had suspicions about the length of battery to ESC leads - they are meant to be kept as short as possible but on the E-Flite set-up they're the best part of a foot long. Whether it was this that caused the loss of the model I don't know. If I was to find and fly another, I'd extend the ESC to motor leads instead and fit the ESC's just outboard of the fuselage, keeping the ESC to battery leads much shorter.

Just loved that twin motor sound.........

Likewise, sorry to hear you lost your p38. The motor esc combo we both used seems just right for the model and handlaunching is so easy with the grunt available. I have had no problems whatsoever with the FrSky set up, so do not suspect the length of extension leads was your problem. I do have to concentrate when flying it though as it is so easy to lose which way you are going. :o

Along with Chris, I wish you good luck.

Cheers gents, after some counselling I feel much better about it now.............. :)

There's certainly some discussion about the AR500 but I re-installed it in my Sea Fury and it has performed faultlessly ever since. Many have had no problem with it whatsoever so I'll have to settle for pilot error. If you've some time to waste (and a strong constitution!) I've a couple of videos, the first shows the first crash here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEW9uUMYglU and the second a flight after the rebuild here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPh1gArCAtQ&feature=related

I couldn't resist fitting a Frsky module to my Optic 6, flying an Easyglider, and it has been rock solid. I'm based in France and really shouldn't be using the Frsky but at the price I had to try it. Most of my models are on either Spekky gear with the France setting or on 41Mhz. Being way out in the country, I'm unlikely to upset either the Wi-Fi or military users on the upper end of the 2.4Ghz allocation (which is why France is different) so occasional use causes no problems.

Happy Flying!

A bit off topic but I am envious that you are based in France. Have just got back from 2 glorious weeks in Normandy (with only a Blade MCX to play with as there was no room in our MG Midget for anything bigger :D ) and am now back at work. There is certainly a lot of country there to fly in!!

Glad you enjoyed your holiday, David. I can imagine the problem with stowing wings in a Midget - and it wouldn't look right with a trailer, would it? :D

It's not Nirvana here but it has it's attractions. I'm way down in the Lot, near Cahors. I'm very fortunate in having a field behind the house where I fly. Mind you, it's all sloping with lots of trees and turbulence but it beats driving to a site and will eventually, I hope, make me a better flyer......... :)

Modelling gear is very much more expensive by and large in Europe - probably 20-30% more than UK prices, so GC is very useful - reliable and quick, too. It would really hurt having to pay French prices, so I try and get the kits and hardware when I'm in the UK and top up with mail order where necessary.

Here's a video I did back in March showing the area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6KiGH3D1MY
